Police seized cocaine, firearms and cash after a 10-month investigation across the province. Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), with the help of local police, searched homes in Calgary, Edmonton, St. Albert and Sturgeon County, most recently in July. They seized 66 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $6 million and just over $1 million in cash — ALERT’s largest-ever cash seizure. Police also seized 11 rifles, six handguns, fentanyl, meth, mushrooms and vehicles. “ALERT targeted a province-wide drug trafficking network that relied on vehicles outfitted with hidden compartments to move drugs and cash primarily between Edmonton and Calgary,” they said in a release on Thursday. Several people were arrested but no one has been charged yet.
