3 arrested in St. John’s, shelter-in-place lifted: Newfoundland police

Police in St. John’s, N.L., say three people are in custody following a shelter-in-place order that urged residents in the Kenmount Terrace area to stay indoors.

The shelter-in-place issued Friday afternoon has ended, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in an update on social media.

Residents of Ann Harvey Place, Sir Wilfred Grenfell Street, Cape Norman Street, Orlando Place and Henry Larsen Street “can now resume normal activities,” according to police at 6:13 p.m.

The RNC had warned of an increased police presence, and asked people to follow officers’ directions and avoid the area amid the active situation. Residents were told to keep their doors and windows locked.

In the update, the RNC says two men and one woman have since been taken into custody without incident.

Police also thanked the public “for their assistance with this matter,” adding that more information will be provided as it becomes available.
