Calgary fire crews battled a stubborn blaze at a warehouse in the city’s Manchester Industrial Area on Tuesday night. Several 911 calls were made regarding a fire in the 200 block of 50th Avenue S.W. shortly before 6 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and sides of the building. Aerial trucks were brought in to douse the building. Crews were on scene for several hours putting out the fire and managing any hot spots that remained. Officials say the building appeared to be used for storage and that there are no signs anyone was inside at the time. It’s now at risk of collapsing and will need to be torn down. What sparked the fire is under investigation.
