Vehicles damaged by pieces of metal on Stoney Trail N.E.

The Calgary Fire Department said several long pieces of metal were found in the middle of Stoney Trail on June 18, 2026. The debris ended up damaging multiple vehicles.

The Calgary Fire Department says multiple vehicles were damaged Thursday by metal scattered in the middle of Calgary’s ring road.

Firefighters were called to the westbound lanes of Stoney Trail between Deerfoot Trail and 11 Street N.E. at 12:20 p.m.

Crews arrived to find several vehicles pulled over to the side of the road with “moderate to significant damage.”

Several long pieces of steel were found in the roadway.

Officials say the debris ended up damaging the bottom of the vehicles and puncturing plenty of tires.

None of the vehicles collided with one another and no one was injured, officials said.

“Our crews are helping drivers change their flat tires. They also did clean up some fluids,” said the Calgary Fire Department’s public information officer Alex Kwan in a statement.

Firefighters dragged the metal off the road and alerted tow trucks to assist in removing the debris.

The origin of the metal is not known.
