Thursday will be the warmest day for a while with highs dropping to -15 C next week

Last look at double-digits for a while in Calgary. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Daytime highs across southern Alberta will sit in the double-digits on Thursday, including in Calgary.

Warm westerlies will flow over the Rockies with Calgary expected sustained wind speeds of 20 to 40 km/h for most of the day and stronger winds forecast for the southwest corner of the province.

A shift in the upper pattern at the beginning of next week will introduce widespread colder temperatures across the country and by the end of next week daytime highs in Calgary will be more than 25 degrees colder than today.

Rain will transition to snow across southern British Columbia on Thursday and Friday before crossing over the Rockies by Saturday.

Light and scattered snow is possible between Red Deer to Lethbridge along the QEII and Highway 2 – with Calgary potentially recording one to three centimetres between Saturday and Sunday.

The first two weeks of February included unusually warm temperatures across southern Alberta with every day posting daytime highs well above freezing.

Starting Wednesday daytime highs will not make it above -10 C, with at least a few days of highs that will be colder than the average low of -12 C.
