An early morning fire has severely damaged a shed in the southeast Calgary community of Eastfield on Wednesday. The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was called to the scene, in the 3600 block of 48 Avenue S.E., at 1:55 a.m. Officials say flames could be seen coming from several items in the yard. “Firefighters stretched hose lines and began knocking down the fire,” said CFD public information officer Alex Kwan in a statement. “The fire spread to some nearby trees but did not extend to any structures. Once under control, several fire trucks were released from scene.” Kwan said no one was injured and no one was found at the scene. A hazardous materials team remained at the scene to monitor the situation and address any concerns from contaminated water. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
