Calgarians might see messy roads next week due to rapid melting with highs up to 10 C

Temperatures above zero again in Calgary. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

The snow that fell at the end of last week has largely remained on the surface due to cooler temperatures.

While there has been some melting, most back alleys, parking lots, side streets and grassy areas are still snow-covered across southern Alberta, with higher accumulations in the Rockies and northern Alberta.

A ridge of high pressure from the Pacific basin will anchor across the western edge of the country over the next week and a half, elevating temperatures both during the day and at night.

Daytime highs in Calgary will range from 4 C to 10 C from Tuesday through next Friday, with lows of -8 C to 4 C.

The average range of temperatures in Calgary this time of year is -2 C and -15 C.

Light west winds are expected on Tuesday with sunny conditions.

Building cloud Wednesday may lead to light and scattered precipitation south and east of Calgary by Wednesday night, and there is a slight chance of freezing rain near Medicine Hat Thursday morning.

Calgary is unlikely to get any new precipitation over the next few days.
