A town in Simcoe County is celebrating its first fully accessible park. Margaretta Park in Innisfil, a wheelchair accessible playground, is about to be officially unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at 1110 Cole Street, the public is invited to come to the park and join local dignitaries at the celebration taking place on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Town encourages residents to explore the park and enjoy activities and entertainment. Park goers can expect a playground designed for people who use wheelchairs. It is complete with features such as rubberized surfacing and specialized equipment, a splash pad, washroom facilities, multi-use trails and shade structures. Margaretta Park, spanning three and a half hectares in an Alcona residential subdivision, is named in honour of the late Margaretta Papp Belayneh. She was a former chair of the Innisfil Accessibility Advisory Committee, dedicated to making accessible spaces for everyone. The Innisfil Beach Cruisers Car Club helped support the build of the park by donating $12,000.
