Rangers survive Colts third period surge; win in overtime

Dylan Edwards second of the night played the overtime hero as the Kitchener Rangers beat the Barrie Colts 4-3 in overtime.

Sam O’Reilly and Carson Campbell, also scored for the Rangers while Christian Kirsch made 39 saves in the win.

Kashawn Aitcheson scored with 12 seconds remaining in the third period to send the game to overtime.

Emil Hemming, William Schneid also scored for the Colts while netminder Ben Hrebik made 35 saves

The Colts and Rangers exchanged three goals in a span of two minutes in the third period

The Colts finally beat Kirsch halfway through the third period after a nice pass from Kashawn Aitcheson to Emil Hemming who scored his 14th of the playoffs.

Carson Campbell scored 46 seconds later after a scramble in front left the forward wide open.

Fifty-nine seconds later Dylan Edwards scored his 13th of the playoffs after a slick pass from Sam O’Reilly.

The Rangers looked to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the first period scoring on the powerplay but the goal was challenged by Colts coach Dylan Smoskowitz for a high-stick with the goal being called back.

The Colts season is on the line Tuesday night as game four takes place at Sadlon Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
