Four-year-old child pedestrian hospitalized following crash in Owen Sound

Police say a four-year-old child was taken to the hospital Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle in Owen Sound.

The call came in around 3:25 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a child pedestrian near 14th Street West and Alpha Street.

Investigators say officers arrived within two minutes of receiving the call and provided assistance to the injured child until paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that authorities say are not believed to be life-threatening.

The area was temporarily closed to traffic as officers and forensics documented the scene. The area has since reopened.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

“Officers would like to take this opportunity to remind all drivers to be extra vigilant with the increase in foot traffic that comes with warmer weather, especially in the times just before and after school,” sated Owen Sound police in a release.
