Fatal collision in Markham leads to temporary closure of Highway 407

Highway 407 near Leslie Street in Markham was closed for a period of time Saturday night after a crash between a stalled vehicle and a transport truck.

According to OPP, officers responded to the crash around 1:40 p.m. in the west bound lanes of Highway 407 near Leslie Street.

Police say the initial investigation deemed a passenger vehicle broke down in a lane on the highway and was struck by a fuel tanker truck.

As a result of the crash a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

As a result of the crash and investigation both northbound and southbound ramps were closed.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident are asked to contact OPP.
