In Ontario, impaired driving laws are not just limited to cars, trucks or even boats, as one resident learned on Sunday. Provincial police in Kawartha Lakes say they responded to the area of Victoria Road in Kawartha Lakes’ Laxton Digby Longford Township area around 1 a.m. OPP say they had been called to the trailer park area for a single vehicle collision. The vehicle in question, police say, was a golf cart. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Police say an investigation resulted in impaired driving charges for the driver of the golf cart, including a charge of having a blood alcohol concentration higher than the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. In Ontario, legal consequences can kick in for a blood alcohol concentration level of just 50 milligrams per 100 millilitres and in some case, even less. OPP says the driver, a 34-year-old Clarington, Ont. man had his licence suspended for 90 days as a result of the incident.
