Barrie man drives at highway speeds in residential area: Police

A Barrie man, 41, is facing stunt driving charges after allegedly driving at highway speeds in a residential area with a suspended licence.

Barrie police say officers were doing traffic enforcement on Ferndale Drive North on Thursday afternoon when they spotted a vehicle driving dangerously and more than double the limit.

Officers pulled over the vehicle north of Tiffin Street shortly after 2 p.m. once the radar showed the vehicle going 105 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone, according to police.

Authorities charged the man with stunt driving, speeding and driving while under suspension.

The accused was also given a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
