The government is allocating $9,808,200 million to support improved operations and reduced wait times at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into the hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row. “Ensuring our health care system continues to meet the needs of our growing community has been a priority for our government,” said MPP for Barrie – Springwater – Oro-Medonte Doug Downey. “This funding will continue to support the life-saving work of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and provide world-class health care close to home for those living in Barrie, Springwater, Oro-Medonte and other nearby communities.” MPP for Barrie-Innisfil. Andrea Khanjin said the funds for RVH will help strengthen front-line services. “By continuing to invest in hospitals across Ontario, we are building a stronger, more connected health-care system that is there for patients when they need it most,” Khanjin said. The funding is to support the operations of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s core clinical services. It includes funds to help keep their emergency department open, support inflationary or other wage pressures. It is also expected to reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures, including MRI, CT, cardiac, stroke, neuro-services, orthopedics and cataracts, so that people can connect to care faster. “Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Simcoe County can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will allow Royal Victoria Regional Health to continue delivering the highest standard of care while reducing wait lists and wait times for patients and families, for generations to come.”
