After seven years of abuse, human trafficking victim comes forward

Serious charges await an East Gwillimbury man in a human trafficking investigation.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Counter Exploitation Unit have charged a suspect in connection with a human trafficking investigation.

Last October, a victim told police they had been sexually assaulted, trafficked and exploited in the sex trade from 2012 to 2019.

These assaults were committed at various locations in Vaughan and across Ontario.

The suspect is known to have several aliases and investigators have released his photo as they believe there may be additional victims.

• Trafficking in Persons
• Procuring
• Material benefit resulting from trafficking in persons
• Material benefit from sexual services
• Assault with a weapon
• Sexual assault

• Uttering threats unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon

Human trafficking is the exploitation, manipulation or control of a person by violence or threats of violence to provide a sexual service or forced labour.
