Man, 43, arrested following ‘police operation’ in North Bedeque, P.E.I.

A man has been arrested following what RCMP called a “police operation” in North Bedeque, P.E.I.

Police said on Friday evening, officers surrounded a residence on Freetown Road. A 43-year-old man who was wanted by police in connection to offences in Summerside was believed to be inside and possibly armed.

RCMP said the man had failed to attend an intermittent sentence and had removed his ankle monitoring device.

As a precaution, RCMP said Route 8 was closed while officers secured the area.

Police were able to arrest the man, who was then turned over to the Summerside Police Services for its ongoing investigation.
