Police seize $176K in fentanyl, crystal meth in Kirkland Lake

A 49-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking and other offences after drugs valued at $176K were seized in a raid earlier in May in Kirkland Lake.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking and other offences following a police raid earlier this month in Kirkland Lake.

Specialized units with the Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant May 19 on Government Road East in the community and seized drugs believed to be fentanyl and crystal meth with an estimated street value of $176,000.

“Police also recovered digital scales, weapons and cellular phones,” the OPP said in a news release May 28.

The Kirkland Lake man has been charged with drug trafficking, weapons possession and two counts of possessing a weapon or ammunition while prohibited.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on June 4.
