N.S. RCMP issues emergency alert, warns residents of ‘dangerous man with a weapon’

The RCMP has issued an emergency alert Wednesday evening advising residents in Chelsea, N.S., about a “dangerous man.”

According to the alert, which was issued at 5:57 p.m., there was a report of a man with a weapon in the area of Highway 210 and Old Chelsea Road.

The RCMP says the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as officers investigate.

Police say the man is in his 30s, six-feet-tall, with dark hair and a beard, a brown bandana and pants, grey shirt and black satchel bag.

“Find safe location now. Lock doors. Do not approach. Do not pick up hitchhikers,” reads the alert.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Lunenburg District RCMP at 902-527-555 or 911 in an emergency.
