Nova Scotia has ranked as the worst province for potholes in the country in a nationwide survey. Conducted by Nextdoor Canada, residents were surveyed across the country with the goal of understanding how potholes impact neighbourhoods. In the survey, 75 per cent of Nova Scotia residents describe the potholes as a “severe issue,” which is the highest of any province. Another 13 per cent say the potholes are “noticeable,” suggesting issues skew toward more extreme conditions. Almost nine-in-10 Nova Scotians, or about 88 per cent, say potholes have an impact on their daily drives. Only 10 per cent of Nova Scotians described potholes as mild, while just two per cent said they are non-existent. Nationally, 84 per cent of those surveyed say potholes are “severe” or “noticeable,” meaning Nova Scotia exceeds the national average by about four per cent.
