Winnipeg man charged in homicide investigation

A Winnipeg man has been charged after a man from Garden Hill First Nation was shot and killed at the beginning of April.

On April 1, officers were called to the 400 block of Agnes Street and police found a man who was shot. He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

The man was identified as Brenton Sean Paul Harper, 30. He was from Garden Hill First Nation, but was living in Winnipeg.

His family held a vigil for him on April 8, saying he was a good person.

On April 22, police went to the 1100 block of Rothesay Street and arrested a man. Christopher Erickson, 56, has been charged with second-degree murder.

He remains in custody. The charges against him haven’t been tested in court.
