What Manitobans need to know to vote on Election Day

CTV Winnipeg cameras caught up with Manitoba voters as they cast their ballots on election day.

After a nearly month-long campaign, Manitobans are heading to the polls today to determine who will form government.

Polling stations opened starting at 8:30 a.m. and will close at 8:30 p.m.

In order to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years old, and able to prove your identity and address.

Polling stations are found on voter identification cards. Those who don’t have a voter identification card can check Elections Canada online to find their polling station. You can only cast your vote at your assigned polling station.

A driver’s licence is one item that can be used to prove your identity and address. If you don’t have a driver’s licence, two pieces of identification that prove your name and address can be used. A full list of acceptable identification can be found online.
