A new poll finds Manitoba’s premier Wab Kinew has slipped to the second highest approval rating in Canada, with Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier Andrew Furey taking over the top spot.
According to the new Angus Reid Institute’s quarterly report on premier approval ratings, Kinew has a 65 percent approval rating, down from 67 per cent in the previous quarter.

Furey suddenly resigned in February, leaving with a 68 percent approval rating, his highest score to-date.
According to Angus Reid, most premiers saw a rise in approval over the last quarter, calling it the ‘Trump bump.’
“Trade war with the U.S. has caused not only federal political upheaval, but provincial turmoil as well.” the poll said.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford saw the second highest bump in approval, up 14 points to 48 per cent. However, he ranked third-last ahead of Alberta’s Danielle Smith and Quebec’s Francois Legault.
Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan were grouped together as a regional prairie group with premier approval ratings that have stayed flat according to the poll.
