Manitoba communities report significant rainfall amounts following storm

It was a stormy night in Manitoba, with several communities experiencing major rainfall that’s only expected to continue Thursday.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Portage la Prairie saw the heaviest precipitation, receiving 98 millimetres (mm) of rain from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Starbuck was not far behind with 87.1 mm, while Elie got 71 mm.

ECCC reports that the both the St. Adolphe and Brunkild areas got about 53 mm, with Steinbach receiving 35.5 mm.

As for Winnipeg, both The Forks and the airport saw just over 22 mm of rain.

According to ECCC, though a tornado watch was in place, there have not been any tornado reports.
