Hair salon among buildings damaged by fire overnight

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) had an active Monday morning responding to two overnight structure fires.

Just after 3:00 a.m., WFPS crews responded to a fire in a two-storey, multi-family residence in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from the building. After launching a fire attack, the fire was declared under control at 3:37 a.m.

No injuries were reported at the scene and all occupants of the residence self-evacuated safely. This fire is currently under investigation.

WFPS crews also responded to a fire in the two-storey commercial building in the 600 block of Broadway.

Crews arrived on scene just after 3:00 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the structure. The fire was declared under control by 3:58 a.m.

No occupants were found in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. This fire is also currently under investigation.
