15-car train derailment causes rush-hour slowdown

No injuries are being reported after an upright train derailment in Brandon.

CN told CTV News 15 railcars derailed upright near the CN rail yard at around 5 p.m. Monday.

Brandon police cautioned rush-hour drivers of the derailment on 6th Street between McTavish Avenue and Van Horne Avenue.

“CN crews and local first responders are attending to the scene,” a spokesperson for CN said in a statement. “CN would like to apologize for the inconveniences caused by this incident.”

CN said initial reports show there were no injuries, dangerous goods, leaks, or exposures.

The train was carrying three potash railcars, one railcar of fertilizer, and 11 empty railcars.

CN said the cause is under investigation.
