Friday marks 30 years since the brutal and unsolved murder of Diane Dobson.
Dobson, a 36-year-old mother of three, was last seen walking along Prince Road around 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 14, 1995. The following day, her body was discovered in a ditch at Windsor’s Brighton Beach. A preliminary investigation determined she had been violently attacked, with a fatal blow to the head identified as the cause of death.
In a release, Windsor Police Service said they continue to investigate cold cases, regularly reviewing evidence and pursuing new leads. As part of these efforts, the Major Crimes Unit will resubmit evidence for advanced DNA analysis in the hopes of identifying a suspect in Dobson’s murder.
Investigators remain optimistic that developments in forensic technology could provide a long-awaited breakthrough.
“We know there are people who have information about this murder, and we are urging them to come forward, even if they have previously spoken to investigators,” said Ted Novak, Major Crimes Unit Staff Sergeant. “We hope the anniversary of this murder will help renew interest in this tragic incident and lead to a breakthrough in the case.”
