Windsor police get $175,000 for Intimate Partner Violence program

Windsor police announced that they have received $175,000 in new funding from the Ontario Government to support their Intimate Partner violence (IPV) Early Intervention and Prevention Program.

“This initiative helps identify early warning signs of intimate partner violence, connects victims with vital resources, and works to prevent harm and escalation,” said a WPS social media post on Wednesday.

In 2024, Windsor police responded to over 3,600 intimate partner-related calls.

This partnership with Family Services Windsor-Essex and Windsor Regional Hospital is closely monitored to assess its impact and develop a sustainable model for early intervention.

On May 6, 2024, the Windsor Police Service and Family Services Windsor-Essex launched the partnership aiming to reduce incidents of IPV.
