The Windsor Express is hosting its fourth annual Skilled Trades Expo on Feb. 12 at the WFCU Centre.
It’s a free event.
Members of trade organizations, schools, and companies will be on hand to talk about a rewarding career in various fields that are in demand now and into the future.
It’s a unique opportunity for youth to explore a career in the trades. Students in grades seven to 12 can sign up and parents are encouraged to attend.
Each student will also receive one ticket to a Windsor Express home game, two tickets for their parents, an event swag bag, and more.
Justin St. Pierre is an educator with the Greater Essex County District School Board. St. Pierre wants pupils and their parents to be aware of the viable options for a career in the trades that can begin in the classroom already.
“These students in Grade 11 can already start picking their profession, whether it’s going to be as an electrician, as a tool and die maker - lots of opportunities through industrial construction related fields all over this region,” said St. Pierre. “And so, being able to talk to parents and students early to understand that that is a plan - they’re going to learn and go to school. It’s going to look a little different.”
Tickets are limited. The deadline to register for the event is Feb. 9 at noon.
