Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent are under a special weather statement, effective as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Environment Canada is calling for potential significant rainfall this weekend. Due to the ground still being frozen, it won’t be able to absorb the water as quickly.

We could see 20 to 40 millimetres of rainfall Saturday evening through until Sunday night. Higher amounts are possible.

Flooding in low-lying areas and pooling on roads is a potential.

Here’s the rest of your forecast:

Friday: Sunny. Wind southeast 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h into the afternoon. High 20 C.

Friday night: A few clouds. Increasing cloudiness after midnight, then a 60 per cent chance of showers before the morning. A risk of thunderstorms is possible with winds staying consistent. Low 12 C.

Saturday: Cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of showers. High 20 C.

Saturday night: Showers. Low 11 C.

Sunday: Cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. Windy with a high of 12 C.
