Girls on the Lakeshore Lightning U-11 hockey team will find out Saturday if they won the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
From dropping off cards at a nursing home, to collecting food for the food bank, and even sweeping up hair at a salon, the girls have been performing good deeds across Windsor Essex trying to win the cup and $100,000 for cancer research.
The contest ran from Jan. 17 to March 6.

“This whole group of kids that have inspired everyone in the community to do more. I think everyone started looking at their own volunteerism and their own charitable work and started calling. We had more phone calls at the Community Support Center as well for volunteers looking to do charitable work, so they’ve really inspired the whole community,” said Tracey Bailey, mayor of Lakeshore.
