The Veranda Presents has announced the return of its “Talks and Walks”.

The illustrated talks will feature topics like famous people, history, novels and novelists, moral and ethical questions, the way we are governed, and other topics.

“A Stephen Leacock Celebration” will be the first talk. According to a media release, it’s about the life and stories of Canadian humourist, Stephen Leacock. Many stories were set in a made-up Ontario town called Mariposa.

You can attend the talk on March 29 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Chatham Library meeting room.

Next will be “Robert Frost – The Poet and 14 Poems”, in the same location on April 19 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Beginning on April 5, the first Downtown Chatham History Walk will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“There will be stories about arson, haunted buildings, 200 years of floods on the Thames River, the Black Mecca, shipbuilding, the opera house, famous criminals and crimes, and more as walkers visit buildings and places in downtown,” read the release.

If you’d like to partake, meet under the Centennial Clock at the Downtown Chatham Centre at the corner of King Street West and Fifth Street.

This year’s first Mural Walk will take place on April 12 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning in the same location. You’ll have the chance to explore new and old downtown murals.
