Significant rainfall expected over the weekend

A special weather statement covers most of Ontario, stretching from Windsor-Essex, through the London area and up into North Bay.

According to Environment Canada, significant rainfall is expected Saturday evening through Sunday night.

There is the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and water pooling on roads is also possible. With most of the ground still being frozen, there will be reduced ability for the precipitation to be absorbed.

There is also the risk of thunderstorms in some areas with rainfall in excess of 40 mm possible in some areas.

Friday: Mainly sunny. Wind becoming southeast 30 km/h this afternoon. High 20. UV index 6 or high.

Friday Night: A few clouds. Increasing cloudiness before morning then 40 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm before morning. Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50. Low 12

Saturday: Mainly cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers and risk of a thunderstorm. Wind south 40 km/h gusting to 60. High 20.

Sunday: Cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Windy. High 12.

Monday: Sunny. High 7.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 13.
