Man hit with firearms charges following dispute over St. Patrick’s Day bar tab

Windsor police say that a 28-year-old man brandished a firearm during a dispute on St. Patrick’s Day.

On Monday, police responded to reports of a man with a handgun at a bar in the 5200-block of Tecumseh Road East.

A patron had reportedly argued with an employee about his bar tab, and was escorted out of the business. Outside, he brandished a firearm before fleeing.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Police quickly identified the suspect, and arrested him at a residence in the 1500-block of Hall Avenue the following afternoon.

The suspect now faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a restricted firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x 5)
  • Breach of probation
  • Breach of recognizance under section 810
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Police have not yet located the firearm used in the incident.
