Following a 3-0 loss to the Winnipeg Wesmen in the consolation final, the Windsor Lancers men’s volleyball team walked home with sixth at the U SPORTS national championships over the weekend.
The sixth seed Lansers was awarded the R.W. Pugh Fair Play Award on Sunday in Brandon, Manitoba.
The game’s MVP for the Lancers was Gustavo Siquiera, who led the team with seven kills.
On Saturday, the Lancer’s 3-0 win over the Western Mustangs in the consolation semi-final was the first ever victory for the Lancers at the national tournament, and their finish of sixth overall was the best finish in the program’s history.
Many players will be back next season, and next year the Lancers will play host to the U SPORTS national championships at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
