‘I’m the one who makes that decision':Doug Ford denies Windsor-West candidate a chance to answer media questions

Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford started his final day of the campaign trail in Windsor. CTV Windsor’s Michelle Maluske explains.

Doug Ford is ending his election campaign where it started, with a visit to the city on a whirlwind trip across Southwestern Ontario.

During a media availability at LiUNA Local 625 training centre in Oldcastle, the media asked candidate Tony Francis about why he declined to participate in a chamber debate and local interviews.

Ford, who initially offered the podium to Francis, answered on Francis’ behalf after hearing the question. Ford said he would rather have candidates knocking on doors than a bunch of people from several parties in a debate. He says Francis is knocking on about 400 doors a day.

Windsor-West is a seat currently held by Lisa Gretzky for the NDP.

Also running in the election is Mark Dewdney (None of the Above), Matthew Giancola (Ontario), Joshua Griffin (New Blue) and Nick Kolasky (Green).

The Liberal party does not have a candidate in the race.
