One lucky winner is $5,000 richer following the Hospice Rubber Duck Drop on Thursday night’s Windsor Spitfires game.

A total of 2,500 ducks were dropped from the rafters and onto the ice after the game. The duck that landed the closest to centre ice won its owner the cash prize, supporting a good cause.

“I want to extend heartfelt thanks to the entire Windsor Spitfires team, to all of our volunteers, and everyone who purchased a duck to show their support,” said Katharen Bortolin, The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County executive director.

“Your generosity helps ensure that high quality, memorable, palliative care remains available to those who need it most across our community.”

All money raised directly supports local families who need hospice care.

The winner of the $5,000 has been contacted and will be announced in the coming days.
