A quick-thinking Windsor police officer prevented a small fire from turning into a bigger problem in downtown Windsor this afternoon.
Around 1:30 p.m., the officer spotted a garbage can fire on Ouellette Avenue between Park Street and University Avenue and took immediate action—dousing the flames with a large bottle of water before they could spread.

Firefighters arrived shortly after to ensure the scene was safe, but thanks to the officer’s quick response, the situation was under control before it could escalate.

No injuries or damages were reported, and the cause of the fire remains unclear.
