A Tesla Cyber Truck that was keyed in Chatham has led to mischief charges being laid against a suspect.

On Tuesday just before 4 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service was called with a report of property damage in the parking lot of a store on St. Clair Street in the city.

The CKPS said the complainant reported an unknown man damaging the truck. The accused left before police arrived on scene, but he was found at the intersection of St. Clair Street and McNaughton Avenue.

Through an investigation, police said they learned the man keyed the vehicle and was hitting it, allegedly shouting racial slurs at the truck owner.

During the arrest, the 27-year-old Chatham man allegedly spat at one of the officers. The suspect is now charged with mischief over $5,000 and assaulting a peace officer.
