We’ve come up with some pretty good words to describe our pleasure, or displeasure, with the weather. A favourite around here is June-uary to describe an unseasonably cool/rainy/wet June. This week CTV News at 6 anchor Andrew Johnson coined the term Maugust , as he noted the near-record temperatures this early in May.

Here are some other words we think the Oxford dictionary should add:

  • Maugust – August-like temperatures in May
  • Junuary – It’s supposed to feel like it’s almost summer, but it’s cold and rainy and windy like January.
  • Fogtober – exceptional stretches of fog in October
  • Julember – A chilly July that’s cool like September
  • Octaugust – a warm, dry, sunny October.
  • Decembeard – preceded by Movember, followed by Januhairy…ok, not weather related…well, maybe!

What other words can you come up with to describe our wild west coast weather?
