If we’re lucky, we’ll see the Aurora Borealis tonight. Skies will be clear which means if you’re looking to catch a glimpse, you won’t be cursing clouds.

A couple of solar flares are hitting the Earth today. Solar particles could make the Northern Lights visible as far south the 49th parallel, where they’re not usually seen.

Scientists haven’t pinpointed exactly where the night sky will be illuminated, but if you can get away from the lights of the city, you’ll have a better chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis tonight.

And if you do catch a glimpse, and happen to snap a photo, I’d like to see it! Send your pictures of the northern lights to islandweather@ctv.ca . Good luck!
