Blustery conditions are in the forecast this week for parts of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for Greater Victoria, the west coast of Vancouver Island, eastern Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Campbell River, and the Sunshine Coast between Saltery Bay and Powell River.
For Victoria and the western part of the island, the federal weather agency says strong winds will begin overnight Tuesday and last until around noon Wednesday.
Forecasters predict up to 100 km/h gusts as a “low pressure centre” approaches Vancouver Island.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches,” the alert reads.
For eastern Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast, the wind will pick up Wednesday morning and ease late that afternoon, Environment Canada says.
