Front Street on New Westminster’s waterfront was closed in both directions Tuesday morning after a train derailed.

CN Rail told CTV News seven empty auto carrier cars derailed upright around 3:30 a.m., blocking a crossing.

“There are no reports of injuries, leaks, or fires and no dangerous goods involved,” a spokesperson wrote.

Crews cleared the area, and police said the road was back open around 10 a.m.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
