The search continues for a Kamloops swimmer who police said hasn’t been seen since going underwater on Friday in Riverside Park. According to Kamloops RCMP, the person was swimming outside of the park’s designated swim area when they “went under and never resurfaced.” Mounties and Kamloops Fire Rescue searched the shoreline and river on Friday but found no sign of the lost swimmer, police said. Police said Kamloops Search and Rescue joined on Saturday, using underwater sonar technology while police deployed a drone. “Our team is currently mobilizing swiftwater and ground search teams,” Kamloops SAR wrote in an update Saturday. “We ask the public to please give emergency responders the space they need to work safely and efficiently.” Anyone who may have interacted with the missing swimmer on the shore or seen them in the water has been asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and quote file number 2026-24183.
