A man has been charged with multiple crimes – including sexual assault, choking, and unlawful confinement – involving two male victims in Surrey and police hope that releasing his photo will help them advance their investigation.
The investigation into William Alexander “Alex” Kroesen, 40, began last year, according to a news release from the Surrey Police Service. On Oct. 17, the first victim reported being assaulted on two separate occasions in an apartment near 141 Street and 104 Avenue.
The case was taken over by the Vulnerable Persons Unit, and Kroesen was arrested on Nov. 28 but released without charges.
On Jan. 31, 2025, police received “a report from a second victim who stated he had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man at an apartment in the same area as the previously reported assault,” the statement from the SPS said.
After searching the apartment, Kroesen was arrested. The next day he was charged with assault, sexual assault, uttering threats, choking to overcome resistance and unlawful confinement, police said.
Two additional charges of “assault by choking” have also been approved in the October 2024 incident, according to the SPS.
Police said they are releasing Kroesen’s photo because they “believe people in Surrey community have additional information that will assist in advancing these investigations.”
Anyone with information is urged to call the Vulnerable Persons Unit at 604-599-0502 and reference file number 2024-151349.
