Two pedestrians were taken to hospital Tuesday afternoon after a truck drove onto the sidewalk on Lougheed Highway at the border of Burnaby and Coquitlam.
BC Emergency Health Services told CTV News paramedics were dispatched to Lougheed Highway and North Road at 5: 17 p.m. regarding a “motor vehicle incident involving pedestrians.”
A spokesperson said two people were taken to hospital in stable condition.
Both victims were adult women, according to Burnaby RCMP, who add the driver remained at the scene and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Police say the westbound lanes of Lougheed Highway will remain closed for “several hours” and warn of traffic delays in the area.
