A pedestrian has died after being struck by a truck in New Westminster, B.C.
The collision occurred shortly before 7 p.m. near the intersection of McBride Boulevard and 8th Avenue, New Westminster police said in a release Thursday night.
The intersection was closed for a portion of the evening, but has since reopened.
The driver, who remained at the scene and co-operated with police, had been driving a commercial vehicle, police said.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the person who lost their life this evening,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver.
“Investigators are working to piece together what happened, and we urge anyone with dash cam footage or information to come forward.”

The incident comes less than two months after another pedestrian was fatally hit in the same area, in the 300 block of McBride Road.
