Published:

The scene of a fatal pedestrian strike in Chilliwack is pictured on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

For the second time in as many days, a pedestrian has died after being hit by a driver in Chilliwack.

The individual was struck in the intersection of Vedder and Promontory roads around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

Authorities have identified the victim as an adult man.

Police closed the intersection and called in collision analysts, and say the driver is co-operating with the investigation.

“We are working to determine the circumstances of this incident, which has tragically claimed a life. The intersection will be closed for quite some time, most likely into the evening hours,” said Staff Sgt. Layne Penner in a Chilliwack RCMP statement Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has related information is asked to call the detachment at 604-792-4611.

The death comes after a fatal crash involving another pedestrian Monday night in the 3500 block of Boundary Road.
