Mounties seek 3 suspects after knifepoint robbery near Victoria

Mounties on Vancouver Island are searching for three suspects after a man was reportedly robbed at knifepoint on a popular pedestrian trail near Victoria.

A statement from the West Shore RCMP says the robbery occurred between noon and 1 p.m. on March 19 on the E&N Rail Trail between Peatt Road and Veteran’s Memorial Parkway in Langford.

Investigators say the victim was walking on the trail when he was approached and assaulted by three men, including one who brandished a knife.

Police say the suspects stole the man’s backpack and other belongings before fleeing the scene.

Investigators have been canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance video in the days since the attack was reported.

The first suspect is described as a white man, standing 6’ tall and weighing approximately 180 to 200 pounds. Police said he has curly, light-brown hair a “scruffy” moustache and beard. He was reportedly wearing a brown jacket, a black sweater and blue jeans at the time.

The second suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s, standing 5’8” tall. He was wearing all black, including a black baseball cap with the letters “LA” on it, according to the statement.

Investigators described the third suspect as a white man in his mid 30s, standing approximately 5’8” tall with a small goatee. Police say he was wearing a sweater with the words “Crooks & Castles” on it, as well as steel-toed boots and blue jeans. t

The RCMP say the robbery was only reported to police on March 24, five days after it reportedly occurred.
