Hummus recalled in B.C due to presence of peanuts

Published:

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled this hummus due to undeclared peanuts.

A popular brand of hummus has been recalled in B.C.

The recall of Habibi’s Mediterranean brand Hummus Lebanese Style was triggered by the detection of peanuts, which are not listed among the ingredients on the label, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

“Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction,” the notice from the CFIA said.

As of Wednesday, there was one “reported reaction” to the product, the agency said.

“The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace,” the recall notice said.

Anyone who has purchased it is advised to throw it out or return it.

The hummus was also distributed in Alberta and “possibly other provinces and territories,” according to the CFIA.
