Mission RCMP provided this photo of a Jeep stolen in an alleged carjacking.

Mounties in Mission are investigating a carjacking in the parking lot of a popular hiking trail last week.

On Friday April 4 around 5 p.m., two hikers returned to the lot at the trailhead for Steelhead Falls. When one of them went to get into his Jeep he was approached by two suspects, according to the Mission RCMP.

“Two males wearing balaclavas got out of a white pickup truck parked behind the Jeep, pointed a handgun at the owner of the Jeep, and demanded that he turn over his keys,” a news release from the detachment said.

“One of the offenders drove off in the Jeep, while the other departed in the white pickup.”

The stolen Jeep is described as a white 2024 model that is “stock in appearance” and the suspect vehicle is described as a “four-door pickup, slightly lifted, with no front plate.”

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 604-826-7161 and quote file 25-3703.
